We Can Never Go Back (And Not For the Reasons You May Think)
We’ve been hearing this term “the new normal” a lot during these strange times. Most people want to go back. They want to work again. Send their kids to school. Travel. Have adventures. Meet new people. Fall in love. In person. These are dreams of a population that longs for their comfort zone in a time of extreme stress. But we can’t go back.
We’ve hit a point of no return and that is due in large part to the ways lives have changed because of this virus. This isn’t a concept anyone willingly wants to accept. Even as you read it now, there’s possibly something inside you raging against the words “we can’t go back.” I can’t make you accept that. I wouldn’t force it because that’s not the way to inspire innovation. Instead, I’ll tell you about the lives that have been changed.
This isn’t about conspiracies. It’s not about the science of the virus, vaccines, or cures. It isn’t about politics. This is about people. The one thing we seem to have forgotten about during this time and the one thing that should matter most.
I was inspired to tell these stories when I spoke to some people and realized that they were afraid to talk about it themselves. They’re afraid to lose their jobs, to face criticism, and to scare their loved ones. They have been silenced by the horrors around them. This is a…
